This Privacy Policy describes how the FloatVid app ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when merchants install and use the app on their Shopify store.

We are committed to safeguarding your data and ensuring full transparency and compliance with applicable privacy regulations, including but not limited to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and Shopify’s own data policies.

1. Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal data from you or your customers. The FloatVid app only stores non-personal, configuration-based data necessary to provide the app’s functionality within your Shopify theme.

a. Configuration & Theme Settings (Collected)

We collect and store the following non-personal data through Shopify’s theme editor interface:

• Video file URLs (MP4 links)

• Thumbnail image URLs

• Redirect links

• Form titles, labels, and descriptions

• Button text and field placeholders

• Color codes and font selections

• Video position settings (e.g., bottom-left, bottom-right)

• Product handle selections (for custom blocks)

• Block visibility and enable/disable status

This data is only used to render video widgets and form blocks visually and functionally within your Shopify storefront.

b. Personal or Sensitive Data (Not Collected)

We do not collect or store:

• Customer names, email addresses, or physical addresses

• Payment or billing information

• Browsing history or behavior

• Cookies or unique device identifiers

• IP addresses or geolocation data

• Any form of analytics or tracking data

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the configuration data collected strictly to enable and customize the visual blocks provided by the app. This includes:

• Rendering floating video widgets with your selected settings

• Applying styles (colors, fonts, spacing) based on your preferences

• Integrating optional form blocks using Shopify’s native /contact endpoint

• Enabling or disabling blocks based on merchant configuration

We do not use your data for:

• Marketing or promotional purposes

• Data profiling or analytics

• Selling or sharing with third parties

3. Data Storage and Security

All app data is stored within Shopify's infrastructure. We do not use or connect to any external databases, servers, or third-party APIs.

a. Where Your Data Is Stored:

• All configuration data is embedded and stored securely within your Shopify theme’s settings and metafields.

• No data ever leaves the Shopify ecosystem.

b. Security Measures:

• Shopify encrypts all theme data at rest and in transit.

• The app is delivered over secure HTTPS and does not inject unsafe scripts.

• No external domains or assets are loaded, reducing potential vulnerabilities.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

• Your app configuration remains active as long as the app is installed on your store.

• Upon uninstallation, all app-related data is automatically and permanently deleted from your store’s theme.

• We do not retain or back up your data after uninstallation.

• If you reinstall the app, configuration will need to be reentered manually.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have legal rights under privacy regulations such as GDPR or CCPA. These include:

a. Right to Access

You may view and access all app-related settings through the Shopify theme editor at any time.

b. Right to Rectify

You may edit or update all app settings through the Shopify admin interface.

c. Right to Erasure

Uninstalling the app removes all associated data. We do not store any personal or identifiable data outside of Shopify.

d. Right to Data Portability

All theme settings can be exported via Shopify’s standard theme export or backup tools.

We do not maintain any copies or logs of your data.

6. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not share, transfer, or sell any merchant or customer data to third parties under any circumstances.

• No advertising networks

• No analytics services

• No cloud storage providers

• No CRM or email marketing platforms

The app is fully self-contained and operates exclusively within the Shopify theme environment.

7. Use of Shopify APIs

The Floating Video App uses only Shopify-provided APIs such as:

• Theme Editor (Online Store 2.0)

• Shopify's native Contact Form endpoint (/contact)

All features are rendered on the client side using lightweight JavaScript and Liquid logic. There are no server-to-server communications or API calls to third-party services.

8. Children's Privacy

This app is intended for use by Shopify merchants only. It is not directed toward, nor do we knowingly collect data from, individuals under the age of 13 (or equivalent age under applicable law). If we discover such data has been collected, it will be deleted immediately.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

If changes materially affect your rights or the way we use your data, we will notify you via email or via Shopify admin messaging if possible.
